Asia is home to two of the world’s most lavish apartments
Billionaire.com, a Singapore-based lifestyle website catering to ultra high net worth individuals, has named two apartments located in Hong Kong and in Singapore among the world’s ten most luxurious high-rise residences. Ranking sixth and eight, respectively, the apartments in Opus Hong Kong and Clermont Residence, Singapore, have a combined worth USD105.6 million. Both units are found in prestigious neighbourhoods in two of the most expensive real estate destinations in the world. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Canadian architect Frank Gehry, the Opus apartment at The Peak is reportedly the most expensive apartment sold in Hong Kong and is currently available to rent, while the Clermont Residence penthouse, which sits on top of Singapore’s tallest tower—the 290-metre Tanjong Pagar Centre—was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the same team behind One World Trade Center in New York and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. A USD226.9 million penthouse in One Hyde Park—the landmark London property co-developed by UK-based Candy & Candy—took the top spot in the survey, which was dominated by New York City with four entries. Only one apartment in Europe, a high-rise residence in Monaco valued at USD65.7 million, was included in ranking. The website’s editorial team selected each property’s top apartment for this year’s list when penthouses weren’t available. “These top ten skyscrapers have the added draw of being trophy residences, usually designed by a top architect and interior design team,” said Tara Loader Wilkinson, Billionaire.com editor-at-large.
